Title
Assessing Whether Your Community Has Achieved the Goal of Ending Youth Homelessness
Abstract
This factsheet provides information from the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) on specific criteria and benchmarks for ending youth homelessness to help guide communities as they develop and implement a coordinated community response. The series of questions helps communities assess whether they have met the criteria, such as whether the community has identified all unaccompanied youth experiencing homelessness; if the community uses prevention and diversion strategies whenever possible, and provides immediate access to low-barrier shelter to any youth who needs and wants it; whether the community uses coordinated entry processes to link all youth experiencing homelessness to housing and services that are tailored to their needs; whether the community acts with urgency to assist youth to move into permanent or non-time-limited housing options with appropriate services and supports; and if the community has resources, plans, and system capacity in place to continue to prevent and quickly end future experiences of homelessness among youth.
