Abstract

This publication reviews how states are implementing extended foster care under the federal Title IV-E foster care program or comparable state programs. It covers the following programmatic elements: eligibility, placement settings, case management models, case review, and transition services. The authors discuss policy implications the Family First Prevention Services Act will likely have on extended foster care programs. The goal of this report is to help child welfare leaders continue to improve the design of extended care programs and better support the unique needs of older youth. (author abstract modified)
