Abstract

This policy brief provides information on child sex trafficking in the U.S. and around the world. It gives the Trafficking Victims Protection Acts definition of child sex trafficking and describes risk factors and potential consequences to the individual of experiencing trafficking. It notes that child sex trafficking can lead to sexual, physical, and emotional injuries and severe lifelong health, social, educational, legal, and economic problems for survivors. Also discussed are actions that can address child sex trafficking and services the National Child Traumatic Stress Network can provide.
